Middle Earth Arc of Appalachia

Guardians of the Woodland

Our Story

At Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia, we are dedicated to nurturing both the land and the minds that inhabit it. Inspired by tales woven in the fabric of nature, we present this website as a collaborative effort to inform our neighbors of the looming encroachment of powerline easements through our lands.

Our story is presented in the whimsical vein of Lord of the Rings.

In the quiet lands of Bainbridge, where the trees whispered old songs and the hills rolled like the backs of sleeping giants, there lay a homestead known as Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia. Its keepers have tended the woodland for many years, guarding its peace as faithfully as the Rangers of the North.

But far to the south, in the industrial forges of PORTS, a new darkness stirred.

⚫ The Rise of the AEP-Orks

From the smoke‑choked foundries of AEP, a legion of Orks marched—broad‑shouldered, iron‑helmed, and carrying scrolls of “easement decrees” instead of spears. Their leaders, the Survey‑Captains, claimed they had been commanded by a distant, unseen power to carve a 200‑foot scar through the lands of Bainbridge.

They called it “progress.”

The woodland called it wounding.

And the Orks, with their crude maps and louder voices, insisted that Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia lay upon one of three routes chosen for their Great Line—a humming, crackling conduit meant to feed the dark towers rising in the south.

🌲 The Woodland’s Protest

The trees of Oakwatch were old—some older than the memory of men. When the Orks approached, the forest grew still. Even the wind held its breath.

The Stewards stood at the edge of the clearing, staff in hand like a steward of Gondor facing the armies of Mordor. The Orks unfurled their parchment:

“We offer gold coins per acre,” growled the lead Survey‑Captain, “for the right to cut through your acres of woodland.”

The offer fell upon the earth like a dull stone.

The Stewards did not bow.

⚔️ The Negotiation Council

Word spread quickly. Elves from the northern hills (land appraisers), Dwarves from the stone halls (attorneys), and even wandering Wizards (land‑use planners) came to Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia’s aid.

They spoke of:

  • Severance damages
  • Independent valuations
  • Alternative routes
  • The right to refuse the Orkish offer
  • The slow, formal march of eminent domain

The Orks grumbled. They preferred easy conquests.

But Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia was not easy.

🔥 The Stand at the 350‑Foot Boundary

The Orks’ maps showed their Great Line passing 350 feet from the dwelling of Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia —close enough for its hum to echo in the night, close enough for its shadow to fall across the morning sun.

The Stewards planted their staff in the soil.

“This land is not yours to claim,” they said. “Not without fair dealing. Not without truth. Not without honor.”

The Orks shifted uneasily. Honor was not their strong suit.

🌄 The Turning of the Tide

As the council pressed for:

  • full disclosure of the Orks’ plans,
  • environmental scrolls,
  • engineering runes,
  • access road intentions,
  • and the true cost of the scar they wished to carve,

the Orks faltered.

For every question asked, their ranks thinned. For every demand made, their confidence cracked. For every alternative route revealed, their certainty dimmed.

The Great Line might yet be forced elsewhere—toward lands less defended, less beloved, less prepared.

🛡️ Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia’s Resolve

The battle was not yet won. But the woodland stood. And the Stewards stood with it.

The Orks would not take Middle Earth in the Arc of Appalachia easily. Not while the council held strong. Not while the forest whispered its ancient defiance. Not while the stewards of Bainbridge kept watch.
